JIMMY BROWN, Der Liebestraum als Twist, 1962Posted: June 12, 2008
Charly Cotton was really Christian Bruhn, one of Germany´s mot successful composers of the post-war era, who wrote countless hits, film scores, advertisement jingles and musicals. His bio lists a job at Tempo records in 1957, but I don`t think he was instrumental in this release. Today Bruhn is also chairman of the board of GEMA. I hope I`m not in trouble now…
I´m going to post some more of these cover versions of Der Liebestraum als Twist simply because it was always my favorite German Twist song. Musically it might not be the best, but it certainly is among the wildest. The song starts of with the singer shouting:” Hey, Aufgepasst, Brüder und Schwestern! Macht die Fenster zu und stopft Watte in die Türritzen! Jetzt kommt ein Twist!”
Hey, Watch out, Brothers and Sisters! Close the Windows and put cotton in the door cracks! Here comes a Twist!
